 Welcome to my web portfolio!
This portfolio has been designed to display my educational philosophy, background, and goals. It is my hope that my future students and their parents will browse these pages and gain a greater understanding of my identity as a teacher. |
A Call
When I began my undergraduate degree in music, I had no idea that I would fall in love before I graduated. I began working with children through summer jobs and private music instruction while in college. To help finance the completion of my degree, I began teaching music, French, and computer skills in a small, private elementary school. My first day experiences included thirty four-year-olds in a small room doing aerobics, a combined K-3rd grade class, and an unannounced fire drill that began with an ear-splitting bell that turned a class of kindergarteners into my own, personal trembling overcoat. I was hooked. |
A Little Philosophy
In my six years of teaching in public and private schools, I have developed a strong desire to see a love for learning inspired in children as they are given the tools needed to facilitate mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual growth beyond the sphere of the traditional educational process. I am now in the process of pursuing the inspiration and facilitation of learning as a career. My career plans currently include pursuing a higher degree in the education of the Gifted and Talented, acting as a resource for parents in their homeschooling efforts, and opening a school with a focus on developing talents in the Arts and Sciences. I hope that through my work I can communicate my love for learning and music to the next generation.
